This year is the year of "firsts." My dear friend Courtney welcomed her first child, Nolan, into the world in February. I was so happy for them that I just couldn't bear to let Nolan wait any longer for a little friend. So Kasey and I joined the ever-growing bandwagon and got ourselves preggers in late September. I believe children of the time period are referred to as "Ike babies."
Once we found out we were having a baby, the search for our first house intensified. Don't get me wrong, we have enjoyed the last 4 years living in Kasey's aunt's house. It's a lovely old home in downtown Richmond, with history and character, and bats, and plumbing problems, and barely working AC's. Bottomline, there comes a time in every women's life when she just wants her own home! Goodbye 2 minute commute! Hello home ownership!
We looked for six months before finding a house we both loved! I never thought we would end up in Rosenberg, but we did. It's a 1957 Ranch-style house with a huge lot, big trees, pool, and guest house. A bargain compared to the Greatwood houses we were looking at. We saved so much money on the purchase price, we figured we could renovate it to our liking. Now that remodeling has finally begun, I don't know how great of an idea that was. I am trying to convince Kasey to start a blog just on the renovation because 1.) there are sooo many things to consider when remodeling, 2.) it's a good way to document this endeavor 3.) Kasey needs an outlet to vent frustrations and organize the chaos in his mind. The beautiful mind that is Kasey is consumed with remodeling mania. He lives, breathes, and eats it. If he ever decides to quit the law biz, he could become a general contractor or house flipper if he doesn't have a melt-down first.
The other big news is that we had our first baby on June 30. Eli William Doggett is the best thing to ever happen to us! I love being his mother. He is the sweetest thing you'll ever lay your eyes on and I look forward to sharing more about him. Many posts to come on the joys of motherhood.
If that is not the most precious set of lips....watch out girls!
