House Update

No, we have not moved into the Rosenberg house yet. BUT, we are continuing to make progress. What a difference drywall makes! We are the proud owners of a house with concrete floors and sheet-rock (or "cheet-rock" as the contractor calls it). Home sweet home. It's a huge accomplishment in my eyes. What's even more amazing, is that we have paint on the walls. Kasey and I were both under the impression that painting the walls was one of the last things to happen, but NO. It's one of the first jobs the contractor wanted to tackle. That left us one weekend to buy paint. So off we go to Home Depot on Labor Day Sale weekend to save some bucks on paint. Orginally, we were enchanted with the Low VOC paint (because we're green, ya know) but at $57 a gallon, I had to put the "oh hell no"on that idea. I would gladly smell the fumes to save some money at this point. Second accomplishment that weekend, Kasey set a new PR for decision-making. It only took 3 days worth of looking at sample swatches, trying out samples, and googling to decided on paint colors! Of course, the valuable expertise of Mrs. Meredith Doggett also came in handy.

I think we have most of the major items picked out, i.e. kitchen tile (maybe, we will see once the cabinets get in), bathroom tile (hopefully, if they have it available in the Houston warehouse), tile for floor in Master bathroom (chances are good that we can get it at the contractor rate vs. "retail price"), and a cool mosaic tile for the shower (if the special needs volunteers who make it can get their little hands working fast enough!). That leaves sinks, faucets, and light fixtures left. Oh lawd! Wish us luck.

From this . . .

To this! ooohh, aahhh!

I stared at these paint samples for almost 2 hours. It got dark on me, thus the spot light.

In other news, lightning struck the tree in the front yard. A little too close to home, if you ask me!

This poor old tree never even saw it coming. She's in stable condition right now, but we'll have to see how she holds out. I'd hate to lose her. She was good to us.

  1. Great post! It's so much fun to read everything you write...I bet Stephen has his chain saw oiled and ready to attack that tree...as soon as you give him the OK. haha
