Well, so much has been going on since my last post it's hard to know where to begin. Believe me, I often think about plopping myself down in front of the computer to blog my heart out but it seems thinking about doing something and actually doing them are two different things. Anywho, please allow me to fill you in on what the Doggetts are up to these days.
1. We finally moved into the new, old house in Rosenberg. We moved in two weeks before Christmas which made for a slightly chaotic holiday. Most things on the remodeling agenda have been checked off the list but alas, there are a few things that still need to be completed, like:
a. window treatments - we have sheets tacked up in the bathrooms and curtains tacked up in the bedrooms. It's not tin foil but the sheet are very "white trash chic."
b. kitchen backsplash - we have yet to decide on one and the thought of looking again at endless samples of tiles makes me cringe.
c. storage - downsizing to a smaller house forces you be get creative with storing all of the things that we think we need. Having boxes, clothes, computer parts, books, pictures, etc. without a proper home makes me nervous. I have the upmost confidence that it will all one day be organinzed.
2. Eli was baptized Jan 10. MeMaw was able to come, as well as the Doggett clan. It was also the first official family event that we hosted at our new house. I'd like to give a big shout out to my mom and MeMaw for doing so much of the meal prep and clean up. Although it's a small house, 15 people were able to enjoy each other's company and not come down with a case of clausterphobia. It was a special day for Eli and Kasey as well. Kasey turned 31 that same week, so we were able to celebrate his birthday as well. And I must say, the outfit I found for Eli's baptism was oh so cute!!
3. I went back to work at OakBend's Physical Therapy Clinic. Since our company has had three PT's on maternity leave since May, I've been clinic hoping taking their places while they were out. I feel like I finally have a work home now. The hours I'm working are nice as well. I go in at noon everyday which gives me time in the morning to clean, do laundry, exercise, and other things like spend time with my precious Eli. The wonderful Maddie watches him during the day and will have Eli fed and bathed by the time I pick him up, which leaves me a little more time in the evening to play with him before he goes to bed.
4. I am back to teaching cycling again!!! I just started teaching at LA Fitness and love it! Although getting through the hiring process was a little too much like getting a job for the CIA. Seriously people, it's a gym, not a matter of national security. I had to do two interviews, an audition, and "be processed" all to be paid $15 a class. Oh, and I teach at 5:45 in the morning, Yeah!!
5. Eli is now 7 months old! Over the course of the month, we went from turning over (and over and over and over) to army crawling, sitting up without falling on his head, running around the house in his walker, pulling down the bumper pads in his crib, and saying "dah, dah" followed by motorboat sounds. This baby is quickly turning into a child!
6. Attention everyone! My dad has retired! It's been a running joke in the family because in anticipation of this event, my dad has been telling everyone he knows (and many people he doesn't know) that he is retiring next year, this year, in 9 months, in 6 months, in 1 month, in 2 weeks, in 10 days, etc. etc. I am so happy for him and my mom both. He has been working evenings for over 14 years and can now officially return to living the life of a normal person. Now, maybe he can get after all those things he's been talking about doing. Plant a garden, clean the garage (he's a hoarder people, he IS a hoarder!), fix things, do some wood carving, take a Master Gardener class, cook dinner for my mom, build a barn at Sheridan, and be my back-up babysitter. Go Daddy, Go!
Well, I can now tell that my attention span is waning so I better throw in some pictures before this blog entry gets abandoned like others before it.

Way to go Deidre! So glad you gave us an update!!! Eli is precious...such a cute little guy!
